Alvan Ikoku College Sets to Regain Federal University Status, As Nigeria Senate Adopts
The visionary and pragmatic senator representing
Imo East (Owerri Zone) in the hallowed chamber
of Nigerian National Assembly, Senator Samuel
Nnaemeka Anyanwu (Samdaddy), at the
floor of Nigerian Senate defended a bill he
sponsored which has passed second reading to
give legal framework to the full upgrade of the
Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education to a
Federal University.
The bill which is now referred to the Senate
Committee on Education, if eventually passed will
enable ALVAN IKOKU FEDERAL COLLEGE OF
EDUCATION to be a Degree Awarding Institution
independent of her initial affiliation to University of
Nigeria Nsukka.
