IMSU 2016/2017 matriculation ceremony in photos

The matriculation programme was kick started by the entry of the Vice Chancellor procession led by the deans of various faculties on Friday march 3^rd, 2017.

Elijah Madubuihe who observed the ceremony noticed carefully that after the singing of IMSU Anthem, the Registrar Mr. Emeka Ejinkonye (represented) introduced the Vice Chancellor and her entourage this includes the Deputy Vice Chancellors; Administration, Academic, the Bursar, Librarian.

The Registrar then called on Professor (Mrs) victoria Adaobi Obasi (former commissioner for education, imo state and acting vice chancellor imo state university owerri) to declare the matriculation open.

The Vice Chancellor, by the powers conferred on her then admitted the students into full membership of the university.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION

Some selected students from across all departments were invited to sign the matriculation register.

The matriculation programe was decentralized, each faculty was allocated a separate venue were matriculating students across the departments converged.

The Vice Chancellor, in her opening speech, on behalf of senate, staff and students of the university, welcomed all to this year’s matriculation ceremony.

She congratulated all the applicants that have been admitted into the school for the 2016/2017 session. She encouraged the matriculants to be obedient to already established rules and regulations.

She also urged them to shun vices such as cultism, prostitution, armed robbery, examination malpractice throughout their stay in the university as the university has zero tolerance for cultism, and examination misconduct, indecent dressing, and absentiseem to lectures, this was disclosed by Elijah Madubuihe.

Furthermore, the Professor of curriculum studies added that students caught in the web of these vices shall face the full weight of the law. There is no doubt that peer pressure and other related social challenges has contributed to luring students into these bad pathways.

She encouraged them not to disappoint their parents who have invested so much on them and encouraged them to participate in social activities such as sports. The registrar then invited the Vice Chancellor to declare the matriculation programme closed.

The newly admitted students were full of joy and fulfilled as they heartily sang the IMSU and National anthems.
