IMSU UPDATE: Library and information science set to inaugurate newly elected executives

The Department of Library Science, as it was originally known, was created as a response to repeated calls for more training opportunities for library and information professionals. Subsequent changes in the name of the Department from “LIBRARY SCIENCE” to “LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE” and degree nomenclature (from B.A.L.S/B.Sc.L.S. to B.L.S.) were effected to reflect current trends. Library and information science is enlisted by Imo State University under faculty of education, which arguably is the largest and biggest in Imo State University comprising of seventeen departments.

Students of the Department are actively involved in professional activities, serving as officers and committee members which saw the regime change and emergence of newly elected student executive in the department.

On the 15^th day of March, library and information science IMSU conducted an election which brought in a new regime in the student political ambiance, who will exercise sovereign authority over students for the next one year.

In a statement Signed by the President elect Mr. Cosmas Nnaji the department invites students of imo state university and the general public to the ground breaking swearing in ceremony which is dated April 5, 2017. It reads in part:;

“We the newly elected executives of the aforementioned department humbly request your presence at our inauguration ceremony.” Time: 12pm

Venue: The Department, opposite pre-degree block, extension gate IMSU

“The elected executives are sincerely grateful for your support this far and we look forward to your presence at the inauguration ground as it will further boost the love and solidarity we share. Thank you and God bless you.”
