Motor operators within Imsu axis is set to slash the current
flat rate of bus fares from Imsu Front Gate to Bishops court and to other
student areas.
Recall that transport fare within Imo state university
increased by 100% due to fuel scarcity witnessed during the yuletide period,
ever since then the price have refused to drop despite the fall in petrol
price. Motor operators within the school have refused to adjust. A journey
which used to cost N50 from Imsu front gate now cost a flat rate of N100 and above.
The unceasing increment has received series of multiple
discordant exhibitions from different student wings where student pioneers and
concerned students step out in the various Alliance to monitor and regulate the
fare.
In a bid to proffer lasting solution to the increment, a
cross section of student leaders engaged the chairman of taxi operators within
the student areas into a round table discussion where a pleasant conclusion was
reached, our source disclosed.

discussion was to reach and maintain a favorable price for transportation, to
suit Imo Stars and the motor operators, as the price for various destinations
was discussed.
Distance was put into consideration as prices were tagged to
destinations. After much deliberation, It was agreed at the meeting that a
drive from Imsu front gate to Bishop's court and other neighboring student
areas including school front gate to Owerri Club, sterling junction is N50
while Oku- uratta inside and ama-wire is N70 as against current N100 collected
by motorists.
The meeting had in attendance the chairman of taxi
operators, Comr. Chris Nnamani (Bishop's Court President), Comr. Ogunwa Kelvin
(Bishop's Court secretary general), Comr. Success (president of Aladinma
Alliance), and Comr. Opara Harmelson (Current Director of Transport 17th
Republic SUG UNECO Rep.) among other notable big shots.
The new fare regime which took effect immediately will have
50% reduction across the student routes including bishop's court, back gate,
orji ama wire, oku-urrata and works layout.
According to the minutes of the meeting reaching the wireless
