Gist Of How Cmrd. Amadi Emmanuel Emerged NUISS 6th Republic President (Photos)
The National Union of Imo state students (NUISS) which is the Supreme council of Imo state students at home and in diaspora had her 6th Republic National convention with 518 student delegates from the 73 institutions of Higher learning in Nigeria with NUISS chapters, her 27 LGA National delegates and over 500 observers all gathered at the freedom square, Owerri on the 20th day of November, 2018.
The election which started by exactly 11:34am having about 14 contestants out of which 4 were cleared by the DSS to contest for the office of the NUISS national president lasted till 8:49pm same day.
While Comr. Eze Chidiebere of federal polytechnic, Nekede didn't undergo the DSS screening due to reported health challenges, NUISS presidential aspirants who underwent the directorate of state security(DSS) screening and cleared are; Comr. Akuchie Stephen (FUTO), Comr. Amadi Emmanuel (IMSU), Comr. Ezike Chuks Emmanuel (IMSU) and Comr. Iwuoha Tochukwu (FUTO).
Comr. Amadi Emmanuel a law student of Imo State University and a native of Ikeduru LGA who pulled 155 votes to beat his closest rival; Comr. Akuchie Stephen of federal university of technology, Owerri and a native of Mbaitoli LGA who scored 93votes.
The head of the bureau of students affair, Government of Imo state; Hon. Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel while speaking onbehalf of the Governor, thanked all aspirants and student delegates for conducting themselves so honourably throughout the convention.
Hon. Godstime thanked the NUISS 6th Republic electoral committee headed by Comr. Postmus Osuji for conducting a free and fair election. He further promised government's unreserved support for NUISS anytime and day as he assured them of cordial relationship with the new NUISS leadership.
Others who made it at the convention were Comr. Ugonna Okafor a student of University of Portharcout and a native of Ideato North who emerged as Vice President (special duties)-elect, Comr. Ezinne Precious of Imo state university as Vice President (national affair)-elect, Comr. Elijah Madubuihe as Minister of Information-elect, Comr. Donald Ogbonna of FUTO as students secretary general, Comr. Maduakolam Chidinma of federal polytechnic, Oko as National assistant secretary general -elect, Comr. Prisca Ohadiugha of federal polytechnic, Nekede as Minister of Welfare-elect, amongst others.
Inauguration of the elected NUISS officers will be holding this week at the Imo state international convention centre, Owerri.
